Many clients often worry about the transportation of their pets into Cyprus as they are not aware of the pet travelling procedure. As of May 2004 when Cyprus officially joined the European Union, the Republic has now adopted the Pet Travel Scheme. The Pet Travel Scheme allows registered animals to travel freely from the UK to another EU country, a pet must be micro chipped and Vaccinated against rabies. Then an EU pet passport is issued. The passport must verify the microchip insertion and rabbis’ vaccination with a date and number for the microchip. In addition, pets may only enter Cyprus through certain approved routes. Please contact your local Animal Health Divisional Office or the authorities (e.g. the Embassy) of the country you wish to enter to check the requirements.
